Dialup Internet Usage Still High

Dialup internet access has been said to be a dying technology ever since broadband technologies came into the mainstream market. In fact many individuals believe that no one actually still uses dialup. However, recent research has shown that even though broadband has taken over as the primary technology used for internet access, dialup internet still has (as we already) know a strong following.

According to the Office of National Statistics UK and their statistical bulletin on Internet Access Households and Individual (published August 2009), it shows that in the United Kingdom, there are 18.31 million households with Internet Access, this represents 70 per cent of UK homes. Furthermore, there has been an increase of 1.85 million household Internet connections since 2008. This definitely shows an increase in ‘Internet awareness’.
